There have been many scripture passages and quotes that have inspired us over the years. We have often found peace and encouragement in these words. We share them with you in the hopes that you will find inspiration, peace, and encouragement as well.

  • Jeremiah 29:11 ~ A Life Verse

Jeremiah 29:11 is the "life verse" of Jeremiah's Crossing. God used this verse to inspire us toward founding "the ranch," and used it to help us decide on the name. What would be more appropriate than using horseback riding lessons to help students with special needs prosper and find hope and a future.

We delight each time we see or hear this verse. We feel connected to the prophet Jeremiah as you will read in the words of this page. He didn't feel qualified to speak for God, neither did we. He didn't feel qualified to move out on God's behalf. neither did we. Yet, God continued to use this verse to encourage us. He promised to prosper us, and not to harm us. He promised a hope and a future. We are counting on Him. Each and every day.

  • But what if you fly?

    "Look, Mom! I'm flying!"

One of our very favorite moments came when our sweet Scedra stretched her arms out while she was riding her favorite horse, Star. She was so far up in the air and he carried her so gently, I'm sure she felt like she was flying.

Often our students come to the lesson arena full of apprehension. Wouldn't you? We ask them to trust us while we help them get into a saddle perched on top of a 1000 lb animal. Sometimes they ask, "What if I fall?" We try to reassure them. All the while we want to ask, "Oh, my darling, what if you fly?"

  • Depending on Him

    "How much are lessons?"

    "We don't charge for lessons."

Try explaining that as we were getting started. Jeremiah's Crossing was just in its infancy, but we knew we never wanted to cause parents to choose between therapy, or new shoes, or important equipment, and horseback-riding lessons. We believed students needed lessons as much as all the other therapies and equipment. We were confident we were hearing God and were determined to do as He instructed. In the world, that is not the most welcome business plan, but we knew it was right for Jeremiah's Crossing. God has not failed us. Where He guides, He provides!

  • Kind of like ice-cream...

Being a blessing is kind of like eating an ice-cream cone on the hottest day of the summer. No matter how hard you try, you always get some on yourself. So many have come to the ranch with the intentions of blessing others. We felt that way, too. We wanted to bless others. What we all have quickly learned is that it's nearly impossible to bless someone else without being blessed in return.

Smiles, high-fives, hugs. Amazing blessings we have come to cherish. Like ice-cream on a hot day, we love on our students, and get some on ourselves.
